Surgical Ways to Become Anorexic
We mention here the Surgical Ways to Become Anorexic. As we
will see that these Surgical Ways to Become Anorexic are a matter of
controversy.
The Surgical Ways to Become Anorexic :
There are many types of surgical operations used to make the
person anorexic.
The most common surgery is :
Vertical-banded Gastroplasty :
Where a smaller stomach pouch is created with gastric bypass
procedures.
Disadvantages of the Surgical
Ways to Become Anorexic:
1- A major abdominal surgery with all the complications
concerned like infection, abdominal hernia which can develop later,
stricture, fistula and other syndromes.
2- Doubt of effect : There are many medical researches which
confirm that gastric surgery is not very effective in treating the increased
appetite. Even if we remove the whole stomach and colon, the patient may
still feel very hungry. If we discuss the physiology of appetite, we will
find that the major determining factor of feeling hungry is not in the
stomach at all. It is present in the Brain centers. If we have hypoglycaemia
or decreased glucose level in the blood, we will feel hungry even if we do
not have an abdomen! The specific brain centers are sensitive to the glucose
and calorie level in the blood. If the brain centers are very sensitive, we
feel very hungry. If they are not sensitive, we do not feel hungry.
The sensitivity
of the brain centers is determined by many factors of which the
psychological factors can not be ignored . One major reason why doctors and persons used
for long to treat the increased appetite with Ephedrine, with success, is
that Ephedrine, only, suppresses the brain centers of appetite making us
very anorexic, day and night, even if we do not have any food in our
stomachs.
